Criteria for selection

The Steering Committee of the local Team Rynkeby team selects the participants who will join the team. The team is selected based on 10 principles. You may want to consider these when writing your application. You may be able to emphasise something that is important when putting together the team.

  • Participants must be motivated to make a significant effort to raise money for Team Rynkeby's fundraiser for children with critical illnesses
  • Participants should generally live in the neighbourhood of the team they join. This is not important for Team Europe.
  • Participants must be able to set aside time to train at least once a week throughout the spring (minimum 2,500 km before travelling to Paris).
  • Teams should have an equal distribution between men and women (to the extent possible).
  • Participants on Team Europe must be skilled exercise bike riders.
  • At least half of the participants in each team should change every year (the reason for not having more is that we want to ensure continuity in the project).
  • Participants must have a wide age range (minimum 18 years old).
  • Participants must have a wide range of educational and professional backgrounds (however, there must be at least one healthcare professional and one bicycle mechanic in each team)
  • Emphasis will be placed on participants being able to obtain sponsorship.
  • Each team has the opportunity to reserve one or more spots for celebrities who can help raise awareness of the project. These spots are often filled later than the other spots.
